Subsidies and Grants




Families requiring financial assistance to access hockey have access to the following programs to help pay for hockey registration fees, team fees and/or equipment.

Notice: Practice ice, tournament fees, jerseys are additional costs throughout the season. Practice ice can range between $200-$1000 per player, depending on age and level.

GCWCC Program Registration Fee Subsidy Grant

The GCWCC grant will be applied to program “Registration Fee”, minus the club and evaluation fee at time of registration. Team fees: (practice ice, tournament fees) are ineligible.

 - Must bring Parent(s) most recent Revenue Canada “Notice of Assessment”. This is required to apply for this subsidy. Below is the maximum family income chart:

Subsidy is to a maximum of $300 not including club fee and evaluation fees (approx. $180).

Canadian Tire Jumpstart

Parents/guardians will apply directly with the program through the link below and must pay the full registration fees up front. REMHA will reimburse the parent once funding has been received.

Team fees: (practice ice, tournament fees) are ineligible.

Canadian Tire Jumpstart is a national charitable program that helps children ages 4-18 participate in organized sport and recreation.

Hockey Canada Foundation Assist Fund

Parents/guardians will apply directly with the program through the link below and must pay the full registration fees up front. REMHA will reimburse the parent once funding has been received.

Team fees: (practice ice, tournament fees) are ineligible.

The Assist Fund will provide up to $500 per player in registration fee subsidies to approved applicants who are registered with a Hockey Canada-sanctioned association, helping young Canadians get back on the ice in their communities.

Dianne Woods Memorial Player Financial Assistance

Parents/guardians will apply directly with the program through the link below and must pay the full registration fees up front. REMHA will reimburse the parent once funding has been received.

Team fees: (practice ice, tournament fees) are ineligible.

Cooper Nemeth Memorial Player Assistance Fund

Parents/guardians will apply directly with the program through the link below and must pay the full registration fees up front. REMHA will reimburse the parent once funding has been received.

The Cooper Nemeth Memorial Player Assistance Fund is a “once per competition season” application only and is available for Hockey Winnipeg members at the AA level only.

The Cooper Nemeth Memorial Player Assistance Fund program funding may include, but would not be limited to area association program participation, administrative and volunteer fees; league and exhibition game travel expenses; additional ice fees, including try-out ice; tournament fees; monies collected for team pictures and wind-up parties; medals and awards; and personal clothing items which become the property of the applicable player.
