2010 Darryl Michael Young Memorial Award

Congratulations to Nicholas Paulley, the 2010 recipient of the Darryl Michael Young Memorial Award.

The Darryl Micheal Young Memorial Award is for the Bantam hockey player male or female that has :

• Achieved high academic marks during the season.
• Shown leadership and good sportsmanship during the season.
• Has given of his or her time to volunteer in the community.

River East PeeWee AA Marauders are City Champs!

Congratulations to the River East Marauders AA Minor PeeWee Hockey team for winning the 2009/2010 City Championships!!

After a very successful 25 win 3 loss regular season the team battled through some playoff adversity on route to the finals. They swept the first series against the St Vital Victorias to advance to round 2. In round 2 against the Rangers, the boys found themselves facing elimination in game 4. Battling their way through it they won game 4 in overtime to force a 5th and deciding game which they won to advance to the final. In the finals the team once again found its stride and beat the Twins 3 games to 1 to capture the City Championship.

This is the first Championship for any River East Marauders team at any age group since 2003. Great Job Boys!

The coaching staff and players would also like to thank their families for their support all year and send out a very special thank you for all of the amazing support they received from the River East Royals 11 A1 teams during their playoff drive.

River East Royals 11A1 White City Finalists!

Congratulations to the Royals 11A1 White team for placing second in the City Finals!

The River East Royals had a fantastic start to the season this year. Undefeated in the first round of league games, the RE Royals 11A1 White team were able to finsh of the season with 12-3-3 record. After dominating the 11 yr old A1 league the RE Royals placed 1st overall in the East League earning 27 pts and scoring 98 goals in regular season play.

The Royals also finshed 3rd overall at 2009 Christmas Challenge- and were B-side Champions and A-side City Finalists.

Congratulations to all players on a great season.

Melrose Predators 11A2 Finish 1st in East League!

Congratulations to the 11A2 Melrose Predators for their 1st place finish in the East League Division!!!!

It took lots of hard work and dedication and they did it!! Way to go Predators!!! The Predators also won a bronze at the Veterans Cup Tourny in Stonewall! Keep up the great work team!

Valley Gardens Stars run up an impressive 18-0 record this season!

Congratulations to the Valley Gardens Flames, 18-0 regular season record and two tournament wins!

The Valley Gardens Stars completed a successful regular season with 18 wins and 0 losses in league play. In addition, the Stars won the A Side Championship in the St. Anne Tournament by defeating the Southdale Blues 7 - 6 in an overtime thriller. The Stars also captured the A Side Championship of the 20 team Gateway Winter Carnival by defeating the Oxford Heights Dynamite 5 - 2 in a fast paced championship final.

A total effort by all members of the 2009/10 VG Stars team - give yourselves a big pat on the back.

The Valley Gardens Flames win the 2010 Butch Goring Invitational!

Congratulations to the Valley Gardens Flames, Division A Playoff Champs at the 2010 Butch Goring Invitational Tournament at Glenwood Community Centre on Feb 14.

The Gold medal game renewed the friendly rivalry between the V.G. Flames and V.G. Stars and featured end to end action in a tight 8-6 win for the Flames.

Congratulations to all of the players and coaches from the Valley Gardens 7/8 teams.

Royals Grey 9A1 take home 3 Tournament Golds!

The River East 9A1 Royals Grey Team wins the Christmas Challenge!

The River East 9A1 Royals Grey Team wins in Garson!

Royals Grey 9A1 took home their 3rd Tournament Gold on Saturday, Feb. 13 at the SJMHA Warhawk Tournament.

This “threepeat” comes after winning the Gold Medal Game in Garson, defeating the home town team for the championship. Then came the Christmas Challenge. Another Gold Medal for Royals Grey, defeating the rival team Garden City for the championship.

In the latest tournament, River East Royals showed their hockey dominance by winning their respective pools to face off for the championship game with Royals Grey taking the win.

The Royals Grey team was led to victory under the coaching of Head Coach Trevor Rebeck, Assistant Coaches Jerry Comeau and Terry Thorarinson and goal coach, Trevor Bennett.

River East Royals 14A1 Top Christmas Challenge Again!

Our 14 A1 Royals captured Gold for the second year in a row at the Annual Richmond Kings Christmas Challenge Hockey Tournament. The River East Royals defeated Varsity View 4- 2 in the Gold Medal game. Way to go Royals.
